Virgin Media Network Expansion plans Brundall

Dear Councillors,

Virgin Media are investing £3bn of private investment to expand our ultrafast broadband network across the UK, the largest investment in digital communications in a decade.

We have identified Brundall as a key location for expansion and are currently in the process of  bringing  our network to more homes and businesses across the area, including in your ward. We are passionate about the benefits that better connectivity can bring for local residents, businesses and communities. We’re hoping to connect up to 2500 homes or businesses within the area.

Residents who take our services will be connected with fibre broadband that runs directly to their premise offering ultrafast, future-proof connectivity with download speeds of up to 200Mbps for residents and up to 300 Mbps for businesses. Plus, the latest entertainment with up to 260 TV channels, including 66 HD channels as well as access to Sky Sports, Sky Movies and BT Sport, and an extensive TV on demand library of exclusive shows, box sets and movies that the service can also offer. With our new V6 box powered by TiVo we can now offer the very best 4K UHD content from Netflix and YouTube, streamed through our powerful ultrafast broadband network.

Virgin Media will be deploying our next generation broadband network which is known as FTTP (Fibre to the Premise). This technology is future proofed and will provide each resident with a ultra-fast broadband connection right outside of their property.

Further to this, we are using new building techniques which are greener and better such as narrow trenching, less cabinets being erected and less spoil which will be taken out of the ground. This is the most greenest and efficient technique ever used on our network and a UK first for a residential broadband supplier.

The roll-out of Virgin Media services is already taking place in your community and will continue over the coming months. This has been agreed by the Council’s highway department.  We are working with your local highways department to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum; however there are long-term gains as your community moves a step closer to becoming a truly connected area.

We share the UK government’s view for communities to have greater choice and a faster broadband service in the future.  I would welcome the opportunity to discuss with you our plans by telephone or a face to face meeting.  I would also appreciate your help in identifying the key community groups in the local area that I could contact.
