Be A Good Neighbour!
At this great time of strain, it is important we do our best to help each other and keep things as normal as we can. But, given the latest advice surrounding the prospect of self-isolation for everyone over the age of 70, as well as those with underlying health problems, or showing symptoms, we clearly cannot continue to operate as normal.
We are therefore working together across our community to coordinate service and support that volunteers can offer safely without risking the health of the people around them. This will take the form of telephone support, delivery of food, medicine and library books and any other support volunteers are able to provide. We will be guided by NHS England’s advice as the situation evolves and will endeavor to effectively communicate future messages.
The parish volunteers are being co-ordinated by representatives from the Yare Valley Churches, Brundall Memorial Hall, Brundall and Postwick Parish Councils and the Brundall and Blofield Good Neighbour Scheme, supported by Brundall Home Hardware.
However, it is important we don’t over-react too. There is a lot of really helpful information already on the NHS website. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
Our challenge now is to do the best we can to continue to provide support to those most in need in a way that’s most appropriate.
What you can do?
If you know your neighbours well enough, phone them or knock on their door to enquire if they are in need of assistance.
If they say they need some help and have no access to any nearby friends or relatives, then please put them in touch with us via the below email:
[email protected] or call 07494 408301
If you are unsure about a neighbour and suspect they might need some help why not encourage them to contact us? But whatever you do to help, stay safe and follow all the NHS advice.
