Looking for a new challenge and want to join a small team dedicated to providing excellent services and facilities for the local community? Brundall Parish Council is looking to employ a Maintenance Operative to maintain the Council’s assets and keep all pieces of land in a tidy condition.
The vacancy is for a part-time position, up to 14 hours per week, and initially for a period of 1 year but with the potential to become permanent. We are seeking applications from dynamic, enthusiastic, experienced individuals committed to delivering high standards of service and who can promote the interests and development of Brundall. Good interpersonal skills are essential, as is flexibility with the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
The Maintenance Operative role will include:
- Weekly litter picking on all Parish Council land
- Regular cleaning and maintenance of 7 bus shelters
- Weekly inspections on all play equipment (training can be provided)
- Regular checks and maintenance on smaller asset items such as benches and notice boards
- Basic gardening and landscaping
- General repairs
- Cleaning of the toilet at the allotments
- Helping to enhance the attractiveness of the village as a place in which to live, work, visit and invest
- Site visits with specialist contractors for larger projects
Access to a suitable vehicle is required (mileage will be paid at the HMRC rate). Basic tools will be provided.

Salary: £15.08 per hour
Payment of salary: monthly in arrears
Probation period: the post is subject to a probationary period of 6 months
Pension: a pension will be offered
Hours: maximum 14 hours per week. Occasional weekend working may be required for which time off in lieu will be granted. It may be necessary for the post holder to work in excess of these hours on occasions to meet deadlines.
References: the post is subject to two satisfactory references
Place of work: the role will be based at the office at Brundall Memorial Hall but will cover the whole parish
Annual leave entitlement: 25 working days, plus all normal bank and public holidays, pro rata.
