Due to the resignation of Councillor Chris Whitehouse there is a Parish Councillor vacancy. Broadland District Council have published the notice below.
If no election is called then Brundall Parish Council will be looking to co-opt a new Councillor after the 28th October 2024. Details of the Co-option Policy can be found here
Brundall Parish Council is incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic group of skilled, knowledgeable and hard-working volunteers to support the Parish assets.
A recent project to carry out maintenance work on the Cremer’s Meadow Hut has been successful. Volunteers used their expertise, put together risk assessments, and planned the project from start to finish.

Are you interested in taking up a civic office that can make a real difference to the community Brundall Parish Council represents?
Government is, more than ever, looking to local communities and local councils to respond to very local needs and priorities. You would become part of the democratic framework of the country, representing the interests of your community within a broad landscape of national governance.
Time as a Parish Councillor will be challenging, exciting, and, at times, frustrating, but training and support are readily available to enable you to gain the personal satisfaction of knowing you and your council have made a difference.
In order to be eligible for the role you will need to be over 18 and a qualifying citizen. This information is available below or by contacting the Parish Clerk on 01603 712223 or 07769 972902, or by emailing clerk@brundall-pc.gov.uk.
The deadline for applications is Friday 17th May 2024. Interested candidates are encouraged to attend the Council meeting on the 20th May 2024 at 7pm in the St Laurence Centre (next to the church) and face to face interviews will take place in June.
Eligibility criteria:
Candidates must be qualified to stand for election. The Local Government Act 1972, Section 79, sets out the qualifications for standing as a candidate and the grounds for disqualification of a candidate.
On the day of nomination and the day of poll, you must:
✅ be at least 18 years old
✅ be a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of any other member state of the European Union, and
meet at least one of the following four qualifications:
a) Your name must appear on the register of local government electors for the parish/community at the time of your nomination and throughout your term of office, should you be elected.
b) You have occupied any land or other premises as owner or tenant in the parish/community during 12 months before the day of your nomination and the day of election.
c) Your main or only place of work during the 12 months prior to the day of your nomination and the day of election has been in the parish/community area. You do not have to have paid employment to qualify, as long as your main or only place of work is in the parish/community area. For example, councillors whose main or only job is being a councillor would be able to use this qualification, if their council office is within the parish/community.
d) You have lived in the parish/community area or within three miles of it during the 12 months before the day of your nomination and the day of election.
You may be disqualified to stand as a candidate if:
You are employed by the parish/community council or hold a paid office under the parish/community council (including joint boards or committees).
🔷 You have been declared bankrupt in the last five years and has not repaid your debts.
🔷 You have been convicted of a criminal offence and sentenced to at least three months imprisonment (including any suspended sentence) within the previous five years.
🔷 You are disqualified due to corrupt practices under the Representation of the People Act 1983 or the Audit Commission Act.
