Brundall Parish Council is a Local Authority organization serving the civil Parish of Brundall.

Brundall Parish Council consists of up to 12 residents of Brundall, who give their time and effort freely for the benefit of the community.  Members of the Parish Council are normally elected to serve, by the residents of Brundall, every 4 years. The last election was May 2023.

The Parish Council is responsible for many things including:

• Monitoring and reporting on the general tidiness of the village
• Management of grass cutting to public areas
• Expressing comments and objections on local Planning Applications
• Assisting Norfolk Constabulary with a Community Speed Watch scheme in Brundall

The provision and maintenance of:

• Bus Shelters
• Cucumber Lane Cemetery
• Memorial Hall Playground
• Meadow View Play Area
• Brundall Sports Hub
• Cremer’s Meadow
• Church Fen Local Nature Reserve
• Allotments
• Brundall Countryside Park
• Street Lighting 
• Public Seating/Benches
• Grit bins
• Litter and dog waste bins

Members of the Parish Council meet once a month at a Parish Council Meeting to discuss, report, monitor and, most importantly, make decisions on matters concerning the village of Brundall.

These Meetings are usually held at the St Laurence Centre, Brundall, on the fourth Monday of each month at 7.00 pm.  For the Events Calendar see below:

In addition to being published on this web site, the Agendas and the venue of meetings are always posted on the 5 village notice boards located by the Chip Shop, outside both Co-Op stores, in The Street Car Park, top of Berryfields (j/w Cucumber Lane).  Members of the public are very welcome and actively encouraged to attend and express their views or concerns on Parish matters, during an adjournment of the formal meeting.   Don’t miss out, have your say!!

Wildlife Discovery Days

The Friends of Cremer’s Meadow are running these free events for people of all ages.  There will be guided tours, and Friends on hand to answer questions about the meadow.

• Come and see some of the 276 species of plants found in the site.
• Admire the hundreds of wild orchids in June.
• Find out the names of wild flowers.
• Learn about the birds, bats and moths in the meadow.
• Meet the invertebrates who live in the pond.

Cremer’s Meadow is open to the public. The Friends group, having worked tirelessly to clear the meadow of junk and rubbish from 2014 to 2017, before allowing residents to access it and enjoy it to its full potential are working to develop the site to restore it to ensure it is a top wildlife site to visit. The Meadow can be found by accessing a public footpath located opposite no 19 Blofield Road. The Meadow is through a wooden gate to the left only 25 yards down this lane. The leader of the group is Gill Buckley. Many thanks are owed to Mrs Shirley Cremer who is now the Patron of the Friends of Cremer’s Meadow who has given her blessing for the land to be bought. We have given her the Council’s assurance that the land will remain largely unspoilt and remain in public ownership. There is a Countryside Working Group set up to ensure the site is well kept and run with the aims of the Park in mind and to help maintain the site. Contact the Deputy Clerk to the Parish Council. Email deputy.clerk@brundall-pc.gov.uk or T. 01603 712223 and ask for Claudia Dickson.

There were 1600 trees planted on the Park in 2015 following a grant from the Forestry Commission and the  species listed are as follows:

Oak (400), Birch (300), Hazel (300), Cherry (100), Hawthorn (100), Field Maple (100), Guelder Rose (50), Sweet Chestnut (100), Crab Apple (50), Myrobalan Plum (50) and Blackthorn (50).

What is Brundall Countryside Park? 

The Countryside Park was established by the Parish Council in 2014 to provide a place for the people of the Brundall to relax and exercise surrounded by nature.

Over 1600 trees and shrubs have been planted to establish native woodlands and an orchard, and flower-rich grasslands have been created. These habitats are already attracting a wide variety of wildlife and are managed sensitively following a management plan. We ask that members of the public, and their dogs (if applicable), protect this environment by refraining from walking on wildlife areas. The car park and network of mown paths and open areas are maintained to provide access around the site. 

What can you do there? 

The Countryside Park is intended primarily for quiet forms of recreation that will not disturb wildlife or other people using the park. Examples of suitable activities include walking, running/jogging, dog walking, nature watching, reading/drawing and quiet picnics.

Ball games and other energetic or noisy activities are not welcomed. Brundall Parish Council provides facilities for these elsewhere in the village. Cycling, equestrian activities, launching of drones, unauthorised motor or electric vehicles, barbecues, and fires are not permitted.

Anyone wishing to hold organised group activities must discuss this with the Parish Council and receive their permission prior to any event taking place. Brundall Countryside Park is a wonderful facility provided for the pleasure of villagers and visitors.
